Teaching and Formation

The Leaven of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a community of missionary sisters dedicated to the education and formation of the young and their families. Early childhood formation, catechetical instruction, sacramental preparation, retreats, and house-to-house evangelism are all part of the apostolate. They also coordinate with parishes for children, youth, and family formation seminars or retreats.

In the United States, the LIHM Sisters teach at St. Michael's Catholic School in South Sioux City, Nebraska, and at Sacred Heart Elementary in Cullman, Alabama. In the Philippines, LIHM sisters teach at the Mary Help of Christians Boarding School in Pangasinan and Mater Redemptoris College in San Jose, Nueva Ecija.

Youth Evangelization

The LIHM Sisters are dedicated to evangelizing young people through continuous catechetical instruction, bible studies, monthly formation, retreats, recreation and other activities. The Sisters are actively involved with the Mary Help of Christians Movement.

The Mary Help of Christians Crusade (MHCC) is a youth charismatic, Marian and Eucharistic-centered group. MHCC in South Sioux City, Nebraska meets every Thursday from 6pm to 8pm in the parish center.

All youth group meetings are currently cancelled due to the pandemic. Sisters will be in contact for possible virtual meetings, activities and other opportunities to connect.
